About Kyuin Baik

Kyuin Baik is a multimedia artist primarily working in oil paintings and photography, with the transfiguration of the notion of ‘portraiture’ in mind. She was born and raised in Seoul, and she has observed that Asian conservative culture has permeated into Asian capitalism. In a Proustian manner, her work pays homage to her own cultural background to the literal nature of the culture while juxtaposing life and demise via objective observations and understated but keen expressions.

Kyuin has received BFA in 2022 from Cornell University, College of Architecture, Art, and Planning. During her college years, She has participated in various exhibitions at Johnson Museum, Tjaden Gallery, and Hartell Gallery in Ithaca, NY. Moreover, She has been awarded an honorable mention for Abstract photography at MONOVISION 2020. Her works have been selected as 2nd place for People-culture and Editorial-personality at IPA (International Photography Award 2017) and Silver place at TIPA (Tokyo International Photography Award 2017). Moreover, her works have been included in Malamegi Lab'22 at 28 Piazza Di Pietra Fine Art Gallery in Rome, Italy, and Future Star exhibition at Holy Arts Gallery in London, UK.
